Ben McFarland

Ben McFarland has won the prestigious Beer Writer of the Year award no less than three times. Ben has contributed to many publications including Esquire,  Jamie Oliver Magazine, The Independent on Sunday, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, Time Out London and an array of drinks industry titles.

Ben is also a successful author. In 2008 he collaborated on The Good Beer Guide West Coast USA, published by CAMRA. The following year saw the release of World’s Best Beers: 1000 Unmissable Brews from Portland to Prague, published by Aurum Press. Boutique Beers: 500 of the World’s Finest Craft Brews then followed in 2013, published by Jacqui Small LLP. Subsequent co-authored works include Thinking Drinkers: An Enlightened Imbiber’s Guide to Alcohol in 2014, and The Thinking Drinkers Almanac: Drinks for Every Day of the Year in 2021, both published again by Jacqui Small LLP.

Ben has also made regular experiences on TV and Radio including BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio 2 and LBC, and is one half of the double act which performs the hilarious (and Edinburgh Fringe famous) shows “The Thinking Drinker’s Guide to Alcohol”, “Legends of Liquor” and “Pub Quiz, Fancy Another Round”.
